FAQ about coiled tubing

What is Coiled Tubing?

Coiled tubing is a continuous length of small-diameter steel pipe, used in drilling, completion, and workover techniques. Coiled tubing was initially developed for working on live producing wells.

How does Coiled tubing work?

The coiled tubing unit is composed of a reel with coiled tubing pipe, injector head, control console, power supply, well-control BOP stack, and support equipment. The coiled tubing is injected into the well through the existing production string or injected into the wellbore.

How is coiled tubing Used?

Coiled tubing is used for a wide variety of oil and gas interventions. It’s commonly used in the completion and production of oil wells, such as well cleaning and cementing wells. It can also perform open hole drilling operations. Coiled tubing can be used for virtually any oil and gas well operation.

The difference between Wireline and Coil?

While wireline and coiled tubing services can perform several common applications, the fundamental differences between the two services is that, coiled tubing allows for the ability to pump fluids and access highly deviated wells.
